This is a review of the software that comes with the Zoom Q3.

The Zoom Q3 is like a cheap flip video camera with a great mic. It takes decent video, but doesn't adjust to poor lighting. Only 2x zoom. Unlike a Flip, you can adjust audio levels.

The HandyShare software is rudimentary at best.

When you plug in your Q3 into a computer, and look for the drive Zoom Q3, you can find Handyshare Exe. Upon opening it, you will see all the videos on your Q3. You can copy them onto your computer, delete them, edit them by creating a new start and end time and resaving it, and upload them to Youtube or Myspace without having to go to those websites.

Here are the problems I find with the softare:

1. You cannot Cut only Copy.
2. You cannot browse to find files on your computer. You can only get files from the specific folder that you designate to keep your Zoom Q3 files. So there is an option to save an edited file to the desktop, but then you cannot use the same software to locate that file on the desktop.
3. You cannot edit brightness of video.
4. You cannot type in start and end time. The start and end time does not respond to arrows or + or - on the keyboard. You have to move the cursor as close as you can - and it jumps in 6 second increments no matter how careful you are with your mouse - and then you have to click repeatedly on the start + or - arrows which when clicked on move in .15 second increments. So it can easily require 30 to 40 clicks to designate a start time, then you'll have to do the same with the ending.
5. When you try to play selections within start and end time, moving the now time cursor and pressing play, it moves back to the start time. It is very aggravating and difficult to verify when your video is ending.
6. Ideally, the a good software program should start as soon as you plug the Zoom Q3 in.

As it is, I am looking for better software, but do not know where to look. Much of the software out there doesn't open or allow you to save in .mov Movie files.

Can someone recommend better software that has the ability to adjust the brightness of the video?

Thanks,
