I use a Bose Tone Engine which is very light (2.5lbs.) and has a plastic cover that snaps into place. Its the last thing that I put in my equipment bag.

I haven't used one for four years--ever since I got the Bose. However, if I ever had to go back to using the Alesis 6FX, I would permanently mount it to my console, either with Velcro, or mounting screws.

Cheers,

Gary

My mixer is a bit bigger than the Alesis Gary mentioned. It is a Yamaha MG82CX Stereo Mixer with Effects. It and the power supply fit very nicely into a laptop carry bag.

I've used Samsons, Behringers, Alesis, Yamahas, and Mackies,.

Best mic inputs - yamaha/mackie
best fx - yamaha/mackie
most noise - behringer
worst mic inputs - behringer
most failures - behringer
best price - behringer
best value per dollar - Samson

The yamaha's come with 1-knob compressor on some mic inputs, the new mackie's are supposed to be pretty decent sounding

Hmmm... sounds like a good solution. I may have a spare bag around here.

Either my Scion XB, or my "new" '97 pickup.

Actually I generally use a square shaped mic bag, without the foam mic holder thing.
You can leave the cords and power supply plugged in and just set the whole thing in it.

I use an Alexis 6FX and I carry the mixer and my Digitech Vocalist EX workstation harmonizer in a laptop bag ... the section of the bag I use for this has a foam divider right in the center and velcro straps on each side which is great for holding the two units in place ...
t.
PS ... the power supplies for both units go in another bag with whatever cables I need ...
Not NEARLY as concise/compact as Gary's set up, but it works for me ...

Bill...
If you had asked this question 20 years ago I would have said...I buy my mixer at the gig and carry the booze in a flask.
