Gang-

I was contacted by a friend of a friend who is in her 80's and can no longer play her organ. She's asked me for assistance with finding the best way to sell or donate this.

She has three pieces.

The organ is a Lowrey Theatre Consol Model # H25R2. Original purchase price according to her was $8,000.00

She has 2 Leslies, a 102 and a 103. These speakers are usually used in tandem as the signal is split. Original price according to her was $1500.00 ea.

The organ I think will be more difficult to sell than the speakers. Its old, well out of production and servicing it could be a nightmare.

Ideas on a good direction to point her?

Thanks,

Sell the Leslies on Ebay and donate the organ to Goodwill and take a tax deduction for it.

I agree with the "donate and tax deduct" in this instance.

Since the Leslies are "only" the 102/103 setup, which is not all that desirable really, may as well leave them with the organ and all connections, donate to Goodwill, Salvation Army or some other outfit that lets you declare a value on their receipt for income tax purposes, she'd likely do better that way.

Hi Bill

Speaking as a former Baldwin dealer, those units are not worth the money to cart them to the dump

Donating to Goodwill, a church, retirement home etc is the best way to go, UNLESS, there just happens to be one of those people out there that think this is a gem, and I'm sure there are those people out there.

That being the case you may want to try advertising it first, see what if anything happens, if no nibbles, dump it.

There are theatre organ enthusiasts out there. If I remember, this is a pretty good organ. I used to sell them many years ago.
