This will tell you about the LA portion: http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/019923.html

ONLY disappointment was that Don's favorite shrimp po' boy place hadn't gotten their shrimp delivery so we had to 'settle' for catfish ... man was that good ...
And Don was SO AFRAID of me taking his job (NOT!!!) that he let me sing and play the second night also ...

The wedding in Dallas was a lot of fun ... New Yorkers and Texans having a BALL ...

Had dinner one night at a 'Pappadeaux' restaurant http://pappadeaux.com/home/ and the food was really good !!!

We visited the '6th Floor Museum' at the Texas School Book Depository (they've taken the name off the building)... JFK was assassinated the day before Lydia and I were married so it may have meant a little more to us, but it is really something to experience... It has to especially affect any American who remembers that time, to think that you are standing right where it took place ...

on Sunday we drove to San Antonio with a stop in Austin on the way ... beautiful capitol building and the Texas Longhorn's Stadium is HUGE !!!

Seeing The Alamo in San Antonio was also inspiring, but not knowing much about its location beforehand, I was surprised to see it is in the middle of town ...

The RiverWalk is really neat, with some great restaurants ... had some great steamed seafood - including crawfish - at Joe's Crab House http://www.joescrabshack.com/store_front_location.php?LC=CSS3 as appetizers, and then some Texas BBQ at The County Line http://www.countyline.com/comeseeus.asp#San%20Antonio%20(Riverwalk) ... the RiverWalk boat tour is something to experience ...

All in all, it was a great trip, ... Lydia and I put 964 miles on the rented car !!!, with the exception that Continental messed up our return trip and had us leaving Dallas instead of San Antonio ... after getting up at 4:30 for a 7AM flight, I did not want to hear that ... a Continental supervisor got us on a later Delta flight and we got home at about 10PM ...

This has been a real traveling summer for me and Lydia (so much so that I feel I can steal Gary's 'handle') and the best part has been the opportunity to meet so many 'Zoners' ...

The Lord has blessed us through the years, and our retirement has been no exception ...

t.
