Hi, I was wpndering if anyone got chance to try the SR-JV80 #19 house expansion board?
I still don't see it around in Canada...

Is it mostly loop based (like hiphop card) or lots new patches? Thanks!

Hi YMH,

Yes, I got to play with it at NAMM last month.

It has TONS of loops: I'd estimate over 60-70% of patches were loops?

Loops are not something I'm personally interested in using (I also play drums, and make my own grooves instead of using the store-bought variety), but this board might be of interest to others.

Thanks Chris,

Personly I prefer to have more new patches or drum sounds too.
Playing loops may be fun in the 1st time, but it doesn't feel good to find everyone using the same loop in his/her tunes as you, does it?

So, needless to say, this board still can't replace #6 dance board. (I thought Roland may learn something after got so many feedbacks form the techno board...)

I picked up this board 2 days ago- F--KING AWESOME is all I have to say.

After the pathetic loops in the techno board- Roland have now come clean with loops that are actually useful plus I love the bass sounds and even the vocal hits are great. Well worth the dosh I spent and Im happy to report that I know have an XV3080 fully stocked with the HipHop, Techno and House collection boards plus the origional dance module- so all the Roland dance expansion board sounds- my clients are very happy when I use these sounds in their demos!!!!!

The house board is well worth getting IMHO!

I don't do house music so for all other styles this board is nonsense. A waste of $220.Minor seventh or five seven (+5 +9) chords on a singal key all over the place...I will say the drums are BIG!...nothing else. Weak oldschool loops.Korg seems to be killing roland this year.

OK, I take exception to using "Weak" and "Oldschool" in the same sentence! May the bird of paradise drop his Geritol in your Grape Nuts!

I think that Roland's last board should be called "All Drums". It should be an 8MB version of their 64MB SRX Percussion board. it should include:

50 Snares
50 Basses
25 Toms
25 Auxilliarys
25 Crashes/Rides
25 Chinas/Splashes
10 Brush Hits
10 Exotic Instruments
25 Hi-Hats
5 Miscellaneous
25 Anything else's

This would be the ultimate board and everyone would buy it period. 255 of the best waveforms, and patches could make kits out of these.

The Infamous EPU.

But only if it contained loops.

no offense intended oldschool as I am a professional jazz musician with degrees in classical trp. I just hate when companies sell you the same shit recycled and over used. It is almost as if the people who make these boards don't listen to the music for which it was intended.Peace.
