It's just me and acoustic guitar. As always, I seek feedback, good or bad, on any tune I write. I can handle it and the feedback helps!

Recorded live with Zoom H4 (one track). (EDIT: I used the onboard stereo mics.) Tweaked a little in Kristal audio software. This guitar sure sounds good to me, what do you think. I just bought this, my first Martin, a D35 in showroom condition.

Of course, if anyone has any comment about the song, that's helpful.

Bill...
A haunting melody with thought provoking lyrics. I like it.

That little Zoom H4 is an amazing piece of gear. Did you use the onboard mics or plug in from a mixer?

Eddie, I used the onboard mics. I found an emulation in there for a Neumann U78 and used that. Although, when I recorded it the first time, it sounded great and that was with no mic simulation at all. I, too, am blown away by these recorders.

The first time I recorded, I had some odd plosive-like sounds in about four places that were unexplainable. On another forum, several possibilities were mentioned, including the batteries not being fresh. And I was using the batteries that first time, so, this time, I used AC power.

I need to learn how to multi-track with it, as I can nail a guitar part and then I might change a line in the lyric and have to do the whole thing over again.

Bill, the song is fine, but the concern and commitment is to be greatly admired.

I lived in Fairbanks growing up. "Muttsey" was my dog...a pack animal...mostly wolf. He was huge. As a first grader, his back was eye level. He showed up every morning and evening to escort me to and from the school bus, and prevented major problems with pack animals a few times.

I am sending a check to the organization you identified today.

Respectfully,

Russ

Thanks so much, Russ.

IMO, shooting these magnificent animals is just WRONG. Even if they were overpopulated (and I doubt that), they could trap them. I mean, heck, there is a trapping program!

You look into your dog's eyes, you look into a wolf's eyes.

Here's to Muttsey!

I belong to a lot of environmental organizations, so I identify.

I'm not going gaga over the music - though I'm really into the message.

What really, really impresses me is the sound of that guitar. WOW!!

Bill:

Great job all around. Your vocal was very good, as usual. If I were "pitching" the song, I'd probably add a couple more verses to dampen the repetition in a few places.

The acoustic sounded really nice. Enjoyed.

Thanks for responses. The song has been re-recorded in a lower key, plus, I rewrote the first lyric line of the bridge.
