For two or three years I have been predicting that VIMA is the next generation of arranging. If you still don't believe me, read this - http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=977&ParentId=72

Not only has this idea NOT died, it has been refined and is coming closer to arranger-player reality.

I am aghast... What on earth does this have that a G70 doesn't already, other than karaoke features? And the list of what the G70 HAS and this doesn't would fill a book. OK, an 88... at 78 lbs. And 'anime' cute computer graphics while you play Lights under the keys would be more useful!

If this is the next generation Roland, count me out!

Wanna bet this is $5000+? $6000+? Keep going?

If this is the future, add me to the list of those who live in the past...

Oh, I agree 100%, but we are not the future. If any of the young bucks playing keys now decide to go solo, the next generation or two of the VIMA idea gives them the bells and whistles they want. Future keyboards could be smaller (61,73) and much lighter if that's all it would take.

Look at all the people hung up on texting and phone pics. Where do you think that technology will land in the music business? "Oh yeah, this guy is great. Look at that chick over there. I think I'll text her and see what's up." - as the txt message shows up on the entertainer's giant 1/4" thick, 80" wide flat screen (6 lbs.) followed by a zoom in pic of her from across the hall.

BTW Diki, did you get my email?

Just got it.

Only thing I can think of is a simple trigger to MIDI device. Roland can't trigger from FC-7.

But also possibly you could check out Roland's MIDI controller pedals like the FC300 and see if the pedals can send a MIDI note on a particular channel (plus there are a bunch of other things you can do with MIDI PC#'s for control).

How about...

All cheaper than a PK5...

Where is the "new and improved Arranger"? Where are the styles?

looks to me like a very nice Karaoke player with a Keyboard attached.

Isn't that an oxymoron? "a very nice Karaoke player"
