Tony-I need to get to Boston, but right now, I'm taking care of a little Mexican guy who just had his foot amputated-diabetes. He has no money, family or job. When I contacted his family in Mexico they said "don't send him back here". The little guy was a dishwasher at one of my house jobs.
I have to take him to a clinic at 8:00 AM each morning and then clean a gaping wound twice again each day. He was dismissed from the hospital two days after the amputation, and promptly fell and split all the stitches open.
He doesn't understand English and has to be reminded when to take his meds...5 different ones.
I'm trying to keep him alive, and the jury is out on that. Right now, that's put a lot of things on hold. I have moved him into my guest room and have a health care worker with him in the early evening before I come home.
What a shame! He's one of the forgotten ones who just slip through the cracks.
It takes a situation like this to realize how very fortunate we are. Right now, Ranolfo needs to know that he's not all alone.
