Hi Guys

Treated myself to a Roland FP-4 Piano recently, I have neglected my piano technique after playing arrangers for a while now so getting back to piano basics did no realise how much I missed just playing piano but it really shows up playing errors!!! and boy do arrangers make make you lazy! anyway was just messing around with the internal recorder and threw this together...wow it really messes you up when you record yourself.

Really like the action on the FP-4 not so sure about the piano sound realism? what do you think..

Noel,

Sounds good. I too have this same thinking. The arranger surely makes one 'lazy'. I miss my grand piano that I played all the time and need to get back to doing acoustic work some day.

How are you doing on the AX? I plan to get mine going soon.

Question: When playing your AX, are you able to tap into the Yamaha arranger sounds while playing the arranger at the same time?

Hi zuki.

Love the AX7...I tried using it in arranger mode but its awkward or perhaps it my playing style, I did try one hand on the S900 and the other on the AX7 which looked impressive to the audience but it was manic! so I just use it with my jazz trio and rock band in RH1 mode and I can select all the sounds I like from the S900 remotely...with my jazz trio I use the SA acoustic guitar and its really a head turner especially on numbers like Girl from Ipanema....

Just find a way it works for you zuki...its a great piece of kit.

Cheers Tony, I do tend to rush things sometimes, I am capable of some tasteful chord changes if I had worked on it a bit longer but it was more testing the piano which I'm quite liking...think I may record Line for Lions (Gerry Mulligan) next but I'm in hospital for a jaw re-alignment operation on Tuesday so I'm going quiet recording wise for a few weeks although I hope to get the fingers over the piano while recuperating.

Noel..it sounds great..

I only hear sound on the right channel..Did you record in stereo?
Maybe the left side was not connected..

Yep, I've got a feeling that the left side was not connected... But whether you used the MONO out or have only the one side recorded, I'm not 100% sure (sounds like the MONO out to me!).

Not that that makes it a lesser performance! Great stuff!

My take on the sound would be to roll off just a bit of lows... Do you have the EQ engaged?

Fran...well spotted...the recordings only on one channel ? I play PC through 5.1 surronnd so I did'nt notice it as the processor must have compensated...will redo it in full stereo or perhaps re-play it.

I'm a bit over critcal of my playing, to me it's just ok but glad you liked it.
