Are there ANY dealers for the Tyros 3 in Phoenix AZ?.

The store that had them, is closed for business, it was Guitar & Keyboard City.
I want to check it out before I get it, of course, if I like it.
I have heard that some very good players that I know that are far away from me, that they even purchased, played with it, and had sold it within a few weeks, then, had to buy a T2 again, so, I want to check it out.

Thanks in advance.

What are you missing with your T2/PA800 that you can achieve with the Tyros3?

I just want to check out the T3, I really like my rig/gear in the way it is, and as someone said, "There is always room for improvement", but, I will NOT buy a keyboard without playing it first to see IF it is worth the change, by sounds, features, styles, etc.
Like you said, I cover most basis for MY needs, and playing style, so, it is not broken and I do not intent to fix it, just so see if I can improve it.

I Sold LOTS of Tyros 2s when I worked at the store, (the store did this also because my friend and co-worker Juan Miguel that is also an arranger specialist did his homework too), we sold that many Tyros2s that in fact, we got a "glass" trophy (from Yamaha USA) for selling more T2s in the state.

In fact, I think Steve D. or Mark A., should see this posting.

I gave advise to most T2s on how to use it to most local users, including the Diamond Backs organist.

Besides exposing the product in close range, and I mean, that everybody I play for, see the product I use in the center stage, is in view at least for 1000-2000 and/or more per month depending on the time of the year.
Keep in mind that the Valley of the Sun is "Snow Birds" territory.
Most of my events are for seniors that besides Ballroom dancing, also have the "Lowrey" organs, and I sold some arrangers among other brands besides Yamaha to them, so, it works.
Hint, Hint....!!!

mdorantes,

Very good idea to try it out thoroughly before you buy.
I bought prematurely but will live with it for the time being.

My opinion of the T3;

The Good:
Greatly improved Clarinet - Very nice
Improved Saxophone SA2s - Very good
Improved Organ/Hammond/rotary - much better

The not so good:
OTS voice volumes are poorly balanced with some really ridiculous voice choices, much worse than the T2 - The T3 has been rushed to market me thinks.
I'm not sure I like the registration buttons way over to the right hand side on the T3, as sometimes you MUST use your left hand for reg. changes and this becomes a real challenge for fast access with sometimes unreliable results.

The Ugly:
The Concert Grand Piano is rubbish IMO it's all bum & forehead, nothing in the middle, good lows, nice highs but mid to upper mid range = yuck
It is far worse than the original "Live Grand" in T1 & T2
- Deliberately degraded sample I suspect.
I now despise this Concert Grand and have a lot of work in front of me changing every C. Grand part back to the original T2 Live Grand.

You really owe it to yourself to sound test it thoroughly side by side if possible with your existing keyboard.

Yamaha has done a disservice to its previously loyal customers by rushing this keyboard to market.

I've had 4 Yamaha keyboards in a row, each one (until now), a great improvement on the previous model, but after my T3 purchase I will definitely not automatically purchase the next iteration from Yamaha, without a thorough comparison with other manufacturers’ boards.

To be honest if I knew what I know now, I would have kept my T2.
The T3 is just not really worth the upgrade from the T2 (IMO). Live and learn I guess.

Chris.

mdorantes,

Good luck in your quest, We all have our special needs. I know as a singer I look for things in an arranger that will benefit my vocal accompaniment more so then solo sounds. Please keep us posted on your T3 experiences.

Happy Holidays to you & yours in The Valley of the Sun
