In case anyone is interested in what I like musically, it's 'soul'. This young lady has it in spades, along with just the perfect voice for the type of material she does, well, did. Sadly, she succumbed to cancer at age 33. Funny how so many of the good ones die young.

The tune is 'Wade in the Water', a so-called 'Negro spiritual' which has always been a favorite of mine and has been recorded to death by artist from all genre' (most notably by Ramsey Lewis). Enjoy.

i heard her sing somewhere over the rainbow on the radio whilst driving home from a client appointment. I pulled over into a layby to wipe the tears from my eyes. At that point i truly wanted to be Somewhere over the rainbow. Her death was a terrible loss and we will never know just how incredible she would have been if she had continued to grow and develope as a musician/singer

A young lady I work with sings Eva's version of Somewhere over the rainbow..When Kath sings this song the room is silent enough to hear a pin drop...

Man, I'm happiest when I'm out of the spotlight backing a major talent like this!

Thanks, Chas,

Russ

That was a very nice rendition for sure. I didn't know who she was until now but she did indeed have a great singing voice. Sad she was taken at such a young age.

All the best,
Mike

Maybe we're just using the wrong word, and get the wrong reaction, here.

Let's stop posting 'demos'.

We are NOT 'demonstrators', we are not auditioning for a gig, we are not trying to get a record contract...

Let's start posting 'MUSIC'

Surely that's something that all of us could enjoy doing? You know, playing a little music for our friends and acquaintances, no pressure. After all, we wouldn't even be TALKING about this lady if her music wasn't able to be listened to. SHE had no problem with it. Why should we?

It's just music... No big wup!
