Can anyone with a T3 confirm or deny experiencing the following problem:

For some reason, the screen on my T3, unexpectedly flashes at any given time. I don't think I'm doing anything to trigger it, and it happens at least once or twice every time I play. It does not interfere with the sound or styles. I did not have this problem with my T1 or T2.

And if you are reading this Steve, what could I do about it?

Can't really help except to say Ty3 owners in general haven't mentioned this, although screen flicker has been reported (once to my knowledge) here,

It appears that yours is an isolated case on the T3 thus far chony. If anyone can help you though, it is Steve Deming of Yamaha U.S..

I play my T3 from 4 to 8 hours daily and so far with about 2 months of time on it I have not noticed any screen problems.

An intermittent problem, such as an occasional flickering of the screen is difficult to diagnose at best. It's quite possible that one of the connectors that connects the display to the keyboard's mother board worked loose during shipping. If you have a local, Authorized Yamaha Repair Center that has a good reputation and quick turnaround time, I would have them check it out for you and mention the possibility of a loose connector. This can happen with any complex electronic equipment that has multiple PC boards. It happens with laptop computer all the time.

Gary is right about that connector. It's not just a Yamaha isolated issue though. I'll give you an example here. Alesis had the same problem with a few of their Fusion synths. Very poor connections for the screens.., that were either faulty or just not pushed in far enough. Shipping rattled them up.., and flickering screens became a problem for some. If you can..., take Gary's advice and locate a service center. Plus Steve Deming (if called upon) will help you out too.

Hi Steve,

Close to year ago I reported a flickering screen on my Tyros 3 in this thread (ABOVE).

You replied (in the previous post) that you hadn't heard of the problem and gave me a list of repair centers.

Unfortunately, every repair center I spoke to required a minimum of two weeks to address any problem. This made it impossible for me to repair the problem until this month since I've taken a vacation.

The problem is that the nature of the flickering screen is that it is erratic. Sometimes it will happen four or five times in a single night, other times I won't have a problem for a week.

The repair center I gave the keyboard to (HEAVY ELECTRONICS AND SECURITY, INC (718)946-9000), cannot seem to see the problem so they have done nothing about it. This is a major problem for me since my warranty is up in a few days (even though I reported the problem a number of times on Synthzone - the first almost 12 months ago.)

I will also point out that I've used the keyboard in many halls and studios and I know that the problem is definitely not with the electricity as the above-mentioned repair center just tried to suggest to me.

I've been a loyal customer of Yamaha and have owned every flagship Yamaha since the PSR 8000. This is the first time I've had a major problem, but I would like it to be taken care of.

Please advise me as to what I can do.

Chony, I'm not sure Steve reads this every day. I would contact him personally to be sure he gets in on it before the warranty is up.
