I know it has excellent sounds & styles being I had a few Ketron KBs already.....but I'm a Live player & navigational nut.....reading about all these SD5 features has my attention eg: Multi Tabs, VH...etc etc....

Can you SD5 players chime in and give some real time reviews & opinions pro or con?

Thanks

It's great. Once you get comfortable with the OS, it's really easy to access features, registrations and sounds on the fly.
Factory styles can be edited or replaced and stored. Styles for Midjay and SD1, plus older models all work.
The multi-tabs can be assigned to most anything you want. I have made assignments such as vocal harmony on/off (a light comes on when it's on!),
style variations, cymbal crash, text up and down, registration up and down. . . etc.
I can help you with it if you get one.

Don, don't buy the SD5.

How did that work?

But Donny remember when you "went back" to the SD1+, you had it about 6 weeks and then sold it off again, because you found the operating system too awkward or something to that effect.

From what I have seen the SD5 op sys looks very similar to the SD1+, which I had for a while and sold off for the same reasons.

Too awkward in the op sys, and no real way to match either the songbook in Korgs, or the registrations in Yamahas.

What makes the SD5 that much different? Plus it has less keys, although you seem used to 61 now!!

And still NO tilt screen!!

Why not just add the new TC Helicon harmoniser to the s900, be a great combo then!!

Donny,

The SD5 sounds better then all of the Ketrons that have come out so far. But the OS is the same from SD1 & Xd9.It has no USB so you have to use that PC to keyboard interface. The riffs so great but after to 20th time of hearing them your going to get bored. I had one and sold it because I simply got bored of it.

Good luck

Don, wait for the Audya. It'll be out sooner than you can buy, get bored of and sell an SD5.

Mc thank you this is the stuff I want to hear. I've owned & performed with many Ketron products X1/XD9/SD1+/Midjay so I know the Os very well & yes they sound great & built like a tank. Maybe the Audya will bring to the table a whole new way of doing it for Ketron? We'll see. But to my ears I honestly have to say that sonically Yamaha is the leading the pac although lacking in other things & features which I hope they address soon.

Actually, I have SD5 and Yamaha PSRS900. I find the registration system on SD5 far superior to the Yamaha. I have a virtually unlimited number of registrations at my fingertips and I can quickly find and call them up, either by selecting from screen or entering a 3-digit number. Once you get it organized it is a very efficient way to work.
It's also quick and easy to save style changes or registrations on the fly.
The vocal harmonizer is excellent also and I love the Strat Guitar sound.
I can only imagine how great the Audya will be!
