Hi - I see that there are lots of great tools out there (software, apps) for manipulating data on the Yamaha arrangers.

I have an S900 and access to a Tyros 2, and would like to know if anyone has created some of these "tools" for use on Macintosh (apple) computers? Although I can get access to a PC, I have Macs as my main computers, so it would be great to work with Music Finders, Styles, etc. using Mac-based software. Has anyone created any?

Thanks,
Jim

I'm fairly sure it's PC only for this stuff...

You have a couple of alternatives, though. Just about ALL of the Yamaha software runs on VERY modestly powered computers or laptops, and AFAIK, none of it requires Vista, or maybe even XP (not quite as sure about this one), so a used laptop that merely runs Win98, available very cheaply, would suffice.

Alternatively, if you have a new Intel-based Mac, you can run Windows on it under Boot Camp or even better, Parallels, and run those PC programs natively on your Mac. Just remember to disconnect from the Web while you do!

Hi Jim

My Java-based software is for Mac. Take a look at http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/software.htm

Jørgen

PS: Diki, you were not right this time ;-)

Hi Jim ,

As a Mac user , I would welcome Yamaha to produce there software in Mac format.

Over the years , I have written to Yamaha many times , and always the same response , " use an emulator.

Mac users are customers too !

From what I hear , we are not missing much.

Take care,
Gary 

Thanks, Jørgen...I have a friend who is stuck with using a Mac...he'll be tickled to know about the compatible software.

Yes, me too...

So sorry, Jørgen. As a long time Mac user, am just SO used to PC programs being PC only, I just assumed...

I'll be checking into these, as I have a few Yamaha styles, but the Mega information makes them impossible to use easily on my Roland. Excellent!

Hello Jorgen, Thanks so much for your reply. I'll check that out! It'll be interesting to see which "tools" there are for Mac users; I am eager to start manipulating MFD, styles, registrations etc., in a way that is easier than just using the keyboard.

Thanks again!
Jim

I have used some of Jorgen's software and it is very, very good stuff. Yamaha should pay him to do what he does. The guy does amazing work!
