On a slightly different but not unrelated matter I have just had it confirmed by my roland guy that the new arranger has been put on "indefinite hold".
Which confirms what another SZ member said a couple of weeks ago.
Sad, but according to my guy, the G-70 has been quite underwhelming in sales so Roland are not in any hurry to invest more resources at this time.
It will be a case of releasing it more "in the fullness of time" as Sir Humphrey would say, rather than rushing to market.

Well Roland has been on Hold for quite some time now! While they are on hold, Korg and Yamaha are cleaning up! I know a lot of guys that used to play Roland, but lately I am the only one left with it.

Guess it is time to step up and join the inovators!

Sorry, I don't understand your question? Are you asking my opinion on why Roland are putting the hold on the new arranger, or why the G70 has affected this decision?

Remember, I am only passing on what I was told, not my view on the matter.
Apart from the one where I think it's sad they are doing this.

hm, roland probably has some (good) strategy for their actions.
their competitor is mainly korg, with pa2x, since g70 (and g1000 before of that) it's only 76 keys version. and also because of the musical approach of styles and sounds.
on the other hand, there are big differences between korg and roland, so maybe an actual roland owner will not rush into changing to korg. g70 is still competitive. with another possible OS upgrade, why change a good piece of hardware?

Good points Adimatis...With the new Fantom, they might feel the G70, especially with the E80, cover all the bases at the moment.

I am not bagging out the g70 (hell, I'm looking to buy one) and the reason of "lack of sales" is coming from their rep, not me. So that is all I am going on.
I still think the G70, based only on what I have read, here and elsewhere can still cut it as a new purchase and is still a viable work-horse.

The G70 has sold poorly here in Eastern Canada...it is sold alongside the arrangers from the competition, so it is not a marketing issue.
