When I had my old computer with windows 98 if I wanted to download midi files I could just download them to my computer. Now I have a new computer with Windows XP and I can't seem to get them to download. All that happens is they end up playing on quicktime. How do I get them so I can save them on to my computer?

Computers are evil. You must introduce it to your new baseball bat.

what cloakboy suggested will work but you might get sick of doing that..
My internet pc has a mouse that gives 3rd degree RSI in one sitting its a genuine piece of crap.
get ur hands a li'l dirty and change the file preferences..

Is Quicktime your default media player? Try deleting MP3s from its list.

Ok pal... get your notepen and paper out cos this might get a bit complicated:

STEP ONE- Right click on the midi file.

STEP TWO- Select "save as"

STEP THREE- Select the destination where you want to save your midi file.

STEP FOUR- (the technical bit!) click "ok".

You might need to call a technician in for a couple of these steps, but I'm sure if you persevere you'll get there in the end.

PS- I think there's book you can buy on the subject called "How to save midi files using Windows XP". It's written by Rolf Stoogenberg and is available in all good book stores for only 9.99.

I believe there is also a way to adjust the preferences so that when you click on such files, it will give you a choice whether to save it or open it.
