I have a friend with a Korg PAx1..He has always used Korg backing tracks for his performances..The new Korg will not read them..
Converting them to play in the PA yields the A and B bank instead of the C and D banks...no biggy there..he can change the banks..but the drums are terrible..wrong instruments..

Question..Doe's anyone have instrument definitions for the Korg to convert the backing tracks to SMF including the drums..
Also , how about a batch converter to do the same..
I am going to take a look at my GNMIDI and see if it can help him out..

hi fran, one thing to check if the tracks are pretty old is to make sure they have channel 10 set as the drum channel, the channel 10 protocol was not in the original midi spec and older tracks may have them on another channel..secondly you cna get a Cakewalk INS file from the korgpa.com website.if he uses his computer sequencer to re-save all his tracks that should solve the prob..even he just uses the default GM or GM2 drum maps. to my knowledge (and i've been with midi pretty much from the start) there is no batch prog available to easily convert tracks within midi files to other channels. hope that helps

peace,out
