Hi everyone,
almost all of you guys and girls here describe yamaha keys as "smaller than normal"
You mean width and/or length?
How much is the difference, and do all Yamaha keyboards have the same key size or some have normal and some not?
Not talking about pianos, I would like to know about arrangers, cheap or not.

Yes, all psr and tyros have smaller keys (wide) than arrangers from Roland, Korg, etc. and pianos.
So, if you measure the total lenght of the five octaves, you will see an approximate difference of one inch. The Yamaha keyboard is, of course, shorter.
It may be important for you or not. If you don't play pianos, or if you play Yamahas all the time, not problem. If you play pianos or another arrangers, perhaps it will be trouble.

Another topic is the quality of playing, the key feel. Usually, people say that it is worse in yamahas. Roland and Korgs have far better key feel.
It may be important for you or not...

I can't understand why Yamaha does both things, that move away possible buyers (I know some ones).
Normal keys (1 plastic inch more) doesn't seems a lot of money for Yamaha, neither a better key feel doesn't seems much money, and it would be greatly appreciated for users.
If Roland may do it even in its cheaper models, why not Yamaha?

Thanks Dnj,
I didn't know about about that thread, I had not even known Synthzone existed in late 2003.

OF COURSE I SHOULD HAVE MADE A SEARCH FIRST!!

The link you provided is one of the most informative topics here, at least for me.
