Greetings:
I have read about the new OASIS with the Karma function and have followed the Karma technology for the last few years. I play arranger keyboards (G1000 and Clavinova CVP207) and use the style functions extensively, in addition to both right hand and left hand playing. Is there a way to urge companies such as Korg, Yamaha, Roland to incorporate Karma-type functions into arranger styles. The idea would be to have a basic style programmed as one has it today with a fixed pattern, BUT to have Karma functions modify that pattern in real time. That way, one can use the tremendous musical efforts that have been put into style programming, but still have the style vary in time. The repetitive nature of even the best styles makes using an arranger a bit mechanical and the KARMA function (or something similar) could work together with parts of the style -- maybe not all the tracks at once -- to make it more musically varied.
I suggest that this begin with one of the software arrangers such as OMB. Perhaps some relatively simple algorithms can be incorporated to give non-repeating variation to the drums, bass, chords etc.
