Dnj,
Thanks for the link. About the speakers and how they are mounted....I can't help but think the sound while sitting and playing the Tyros, that the sound has to be better, than those speakers that are mounted in boards that point towards the ceiling.

The Tyros design makes for LESS feedback possibilities. The speakers are facing the same way as the mic is - on up facing speakers, there is more chance.
This will not make me want a Tyros .... just making an acoustical point. If you balance the volume and "work the mic" correctly - you should be able to get plenty of gain from all the designs. My buddy that bought the XD9 has lots of feedback trouble when he uses the harmonizer ..... it's because it's like turning 3 additional mics on! Duh.

It's all about balance and moderation. Just like real life. Too much of anything is no good............except maybe redheads.

UD:
I spent a lot of time trying to solve that problem with the X4. The best compromise I found between a nice sounding harmony (in "full mode", that is with 3 more voices) and little feedback was a ratio around 55/42 (main voice/harmony voices volumes). Maybe this will work reasonably for your buddy...

I use my 9000 with speakers like the Tyros (Yamaha YST-MS50). There is NO feedback on this setup (I use a WH20 Shure Headset mike).
