After accumulating many MIDI files, I've realized that several are mismatched as far as volume and/or EQ (some with very heavy bass). You can, of course, alter any file in your software sequencer. But does anyone know of a program where you can plug in several MIDI files and "automatically" have them match uniformly to a volume/EQ template?

In the mp3 format this would be to "normalize", but I don't think that applies to MIDI files, right?

Most of the time the volumes depend on what equipment a file was created or is played.

e.g. XG (yammie standard) recorded songs can be played on a GM-machine, but the sounds/volumes 'behave' different.

On my Tyros came some (custom-adjusted) styles that were changed by someone. They have another EQ- and volume setting :
Much louder bass volume and Low-EQ turned UP.

Probably done by someone who's speaker system produces not enough LOW audio.
On my system however it sounds TERRIBLE.....

I skipped all those 'Adjusted' styles.
The original PRO-styles sound amazing with bright, clear and deep sound.

The program MidiPlayer (http://www.svpworld.com/util_midiplayer.htm) will adjust the average volume of midis automatically in its Batch Mode. It does not adjust EQ or attempt to change the mix of other instrument except the drums.

GNmidi is at (http://gnmidi.com/)
I've use both GNmidi and MidiPlayer and they both work equally well for batch volume control. I'm not sure about EQ on GNmidi.

Michael,
Re: Batch Mode in your Midiplayer.
I have been adjusting volumes song by song. "Batch Mode" sounds like I have been missing an opportunity to adjust a batch at a time. Yes? No?
If Yes, how do you access Batch Mode?

Batch mode is in MidiPlayer Version 4.06 and later.

Start the program and click on View PlayList.

Add files to the PlayList and then click Batch.

Select an output folder and then click on Process Save.

Thank you Michael. I have been running a very outdated version of Midiplayer and will download the new one immediately.

You are the best.
