Hello to all,
I just returned from Summer NAMM .
I have never been a great typist . By the way....is spell check an option on this forum ?
Yamaha launched 30 new products !
PSr2000 and PSR1000 were available as prototypes . Keyboard should be available in Sept.
If you are looking for new sounds and styles in the PSR2000 than in my opinion the 2000 is a PSR740 repackaged with the PSR9000 screen. The buttons needed to be realigined to fit larger screen ! The PSR2000 will hold around 100 styles on board (which is nice) . But the sounds and styles are pretty much the same . The large screen is a plus in this price range ( 1495.00 ) .
Roland launched nothing new for arranger's other than VA3,Va5 and VA7 .....George Kaye has done a great job of giving reviews on these products .
If you have specific questions you are welcome to email me direct .
I demonstrated the SD1 for 3 days straight .
I love this keyboard . I guess that's why they hire me to demonstrate it ! I am a Ketron O holic after all .
CD's of the SD1 are avilable . Talk to your local dealer or email me . I have a few to send .Recordings are from Ketron ... More to follow ..... Dan O

100 onboard user styles? That is a significant improvement!

Good, my password is working. I love my PSR 740! My biggest problem with it was that you could only store 3 user styles at a time. So the improvements made to the keyboard seem to be:

1. Many more user styles
2. Better sequencing capabilities
3. More watts per channel on the speakers. The PSR 2000 will have 12 watts per channel and I think the PSR 740 only has 6.
4. Some added voices that the PSR 9000 has.
5. More detailed screen
6. Better karaoke capabilities
7. 3 intros and 3 endings plus break as opposed to 2 intros and 2 endings without break

The only disadvantage over the past keyboard is that you apparently have to go into a touch menu to choose which intro you want to use. Maybe it's easier than it looks when examining the buttons.

I would love to own an SD1. It sounds like a monsterously wonderful machine. If it had only 61 keys and speakers and weighed less than 35 lbs, I would think of buying one for gigging. I can't justify that price for my home studio, however, since I'm not making any money on my songs yet.

At the PSR 9000 the beats indication are 4 Leds below the screen.
As at the picture of PSR 2000 or PSR 1000 there are no Leds for this function, can you tell us how is the beats indication on PSR 2000?
(Eg.: At the PSR 740 there are 4 dots in the second display).

Thanks very much.

DanO,did you get a chance to hear the new "combo" and "session" styles on the 2000? I am very interested in this new model. It seems to be closer to a 9000 than a 740,with the internal sequencer,3 intros&endings, etc.
Thanks for on-the-spot info!

Hello to all,
Let's see.....
Carlos ...I am not sure about the tempo counter . I was primarily listening to see if voices and styles were different . The PSR2000 was not complete ( prototype) .
Bill E.
I did not check out the "combo" styles . I was looking for different names of styles that were not on the PSR740 . I could not find many on the prototype PSr2000. Maybe more of te combo styles will be on the final product .
I did notice that the multipad feature on the PSR2000 was a little different after using the one touch . As many of you know ..the cool thing about Yamaha PSR series is the "one touch feature" , This feature gives you 4 suggested sounds and 4 multipads that musically interact with the style . With the PSR740 the hip hop styles use sound effects with the multipads . On the PSR2000 the sound effects ( car engine, door slam ,door creak etc..) were not on the 2000 .
That's it for now ...... Dan o

Donny,
In speaking with Yamaha today, the answer is still "I don't know". Yamaha says the japanese are still undecided if this will take place or not. BAD ANSWER.
