Well, here in Norway it looks like the price is 37.500,- N.Kr. = aprox. 5800$ US.
Maybe possible to negotiate a bit, but probably not much until the "goldrush" is over......

Here in the USA, Yamaha is offering the Tyros2 at a retail price of $4095.00. The official map price (the price allowed to be advertised, is $3495.00. The price a dealer will charge might be more or less then these prices but these are guidelines set up by Yamaha.

However if you call up individual dealers, you can get up to $500 off that price over the phone...

Hmmmm interesting. I would have thought, to prevent dealers from price gouging, that manufacturers set the retail 'list price' as the 'highest amount' possible their product can be sold for.

That said, I feel people who end up paying anything remotely CLOSE to either of the above prices is definitely buying from the WRONG dealer. My recommendation: first call the internet & chain music dealers (Musician's Buy, Music123, etc) and get their BEST 'over the phone' price. Then call DanO and/or GeorgeK. Base your dealer purchase decision on this, plus: product refund/exchange policy, extended(?) warranty coverage, shipping expense, taxes, etc. - Scott

Scott,

Besides the factors you mentioned, I think the customer service provided by the dealer is very important (especially on high end items). I usually buy keyboards and related items from George Kay. I always get a very competative price and the customer service (after the sale) he provides is way better than I have experienced with internet dealers and chain stores.

Any time I have a question about how to do something on a keyoard, George will spend the time walking me through the process. He is the only dealer I have dealt with that knows how to operate and use all of the major arranger keyboards. If George does not have the answer, he finds out.
When I had a question and complaint about the fills on a PA1XPro I purchased, within an hour George had me talking to Korg's US product manager about it. If there is a problem with the keyboard, it is resolved imediately.

When I purchase an expensive item, this kind of customer service is important to me.

I wonder if that price includes the harddrive and other add-ons?
