Hey Fran,

I know you've been a XP-80 user (I recall from older posts) and now a VR-760 user. But have you ever played or felt the touch of Kurzweil PC2 (not PC2x). As you may recall I'm looking to move out of the XP-80 but the VR760 is too much $$ for me. I'm looking at a decent deal for a used Kurzweil PC2. I think you now how much better the VR-760 feels compared to the XP-80. It's that 760 feel I'm really after.

Any thoughts or experience with a Zurzweil PC2? I did just pick up an XV-2020, so I do need good control-ability. Sequencer has become much less needed and live control has become critical, that's why the VR-760 is attractive. But the cost is too much.

Thanks.
Bob

Bob, I have a friend who owned a XP80, along with a PC2..He bought my Roland 5080 and sold[traded] the XP80..He is very happy with the Kurz as a controller[4 zone] and the piano and organ sounds on the PC2..He likes to blend the 5080 and the Kurz..Personally I prefer the Roland 5080 sounds over the Kurz..I know what you mean about the VR760 key feel[I like it a lot better than the XP80]..Both of my current boards have a good feeling keys[G1000]..The action on the 760 is super fast[for organ players], matter of fact you have to disable "quick firing" to play midi modules..
Both the Kurz or the VR are good choices..for me, I bought the VR..

Thanks so much for the reply Fran. I like the XV sounds too. I just picked up a used XV-2020 (much better than the JV sounds). So I'm stuck in between
1) XP-80 w/ XV-2020
or
2) PC2 w/ XV-2020

A rock and a hard place. That's were I am. Like your friend, the XV-2020 is very similar to the 5080 in sound. So My option 2 above would be very similar to your friends set-up, of course not counting all the added features the 5080 has over the 2020 (sampling, polyphony, etc...) I believe the base ROM is the same and the synth engine are the same.

It seems he could hae had the xp-80 with XV and chose PC2 w XV.

Thanks again Fran. You've been most helpful.

Bob
