Hi everybody.
Here is my new version of the MF_Editor.
With V2.7, you can now :
- edit Music Finder Databases for more instruments :
- PSR-1000 / PSR-2000
- CVP-203 / CVP-205 / CVP-207 / CVP-209
- Convert MFD files between these instruments
- Select styles by name (instead of internal numbers)
Remember, you need MS-EXCEL but the MF_Editor is freeware !

MF_Editor is downloadable here .

Fabien: MANY thanks for both your hard work and generousity in sharing your newest version of your very useful Music Finder Databse Editor. It has saved me countless hours of time editing the Music Finder database from the computer instead of having to do it on the PSR2000 keyboard itself. I do have a couple of questions though:

1) You say that version 2.7 now allows you to 'select styles by name (instead of internal numbers)'. I believe that you can already select styles by name (see column i) in version 1.2 as well. How is version 2.7 different in this regard?

2) Is there any way to get the records to appear in alphabetical order (by song name) instead of by 'record number' order?

I highly recommend that all PSR2000/1000 & Clavinova Piano owners who have Excel installed on their PC checkout Fabien's great MusicFinder Editor. Fabien, many thanks again for sharing. - Scott

Scott,

1) in version 1.2, style name was calculated from style number. So changing
the name, had no effect on the number and only numbers are stored in the MFD
file.

2) you can sort records by name or whatever criteria you need.
- select the whole sheet by clicking in the little box left to the "A"
column label
- choose option "sort" in the "data" menu
- select "Yes" for "title lines"
- select your criterias (up to 3)
Beware, I only have a french version of Excel, so items between quotes may
be spelled differently (just guessing the translation)

3) you are welcome

Graham,

Only the models listed are usable. 9000 and 9000 PRO may be usable in a
future release.
Nevertheless conversion between models is not a simple operation, due to
missing styles.
Current version only indicates "NA" (not available) in style number,
according to the used model.
One must then select an other style name manually for those songs, or simply
delete the line.

Fabien: The sort feature works GREAT. Thanks for the clear explaination.

Tip: Passing around to the audience your custom music finder song list can be a convenient way of encouraging them to make song requests from the songs that YOU know best. You could even print up different lists to appeal to specific audiences groups(either alphabetically, by genre, etc). You can even include & store (in the music finder), songs which use custom user styles (stored on floppy). This way, you can (theoretically) have your 'entire' song repetoire stored in a music finder file. - Scott
