CNet bought MP3.com and is shutting it down, probably in preparation to turn it into yet another source for commercial music. It'll be missed... I've used it for years to host my original albums and did fairly well with traffic and CD sales. It was cool that they handled everything from transactions to duping the CD's and mailing them to the customers while sending the artist the check for their half of the sale. I'll be looking for an alternative host - anyone know of a similar service?

Here is a link to a Musician host site. I noticed their Servers for uploading are being maintenanced. The newest press release is dated 2001. And I don't know if they are a good service or not. www.iuma.com

Best regards,
Mike

The Pro - horrible news, I had my files in there too. Where did you get this info from? I wonder where all the artists will go after that? And there are 100 thousands of them!

You can read the news about MP3.com by clicking here. Many MP3.com members got email notices overnight... that's how I found out.

Try www.cdbaby.com

I've purchased and listened to several CD's from them and they are a class act.

Has anyone recently sent money for one of the artists CD's and not yet received it?

I am a little worried about this as I haven't yet received my CD (admittedly, it's only a couple of weeks).
cheers

IUMA seems to be having alot of problems lately, in fact I read somewhere else that they are no longer accepting new members...
However there is www.besonic.com (my personal fav) www.soundclick.com (ok, but not my fav), there are a couple of others, but I can recall them at the moment (dam CRS)

Jim,
You can have a look at this site too, not really sure what they are all about.
