i've been looking around for a good keyboard or synth (or rackmount) that can recreate a wide variety of orchestral (i.e., strings, drums, choir). preferably something dedicated to just this purpose. i've got a Roland FP-2 and an Alesis Ion, which fill their own niches fairly well, but i need something meatier than the Roland to fill the "epic movie score" section. any ideas? i've heard that Kurzweil is supposed to be really good about this, but havn't looked too deeply into it yet.

Hello, Paracelcus!
Sorry, my answer is a little bit late.

Yes! Those sounds are exactly that area in which the Kurzweil operates. In my humble opinion there's no better synth to fill this place but I don't really know many other synths. After purchasing a K2000 I only wished to own a K2500...

Good luck for your choice and Happy holidays!!!
