I think Sampletank is a good starting point.

It works with Cubase and you can download sound libraries from their site for free. Infact, you can download the Sampletank itself for free.

I read somewhere that soundmodules will soon become obsolete and already there are some good softwares available. Hence the question. Didn't have anything particular in mind.

I think software will replace music completely. Not just how you make music, but the music itself. You can leave it running in the background and it won't even bother your neighbors. Just alt-tab back when you need to check the progress bar.

They'll get it all down to a few buttons soon enough. It will take a little bit, but then everyone will forget the primary objective, say oh well, scrap it all and start over again. Write it down and put it in a time capsule next time.
