I had the opertunity to hear and play the Yamaha PSR550 this weekend at our Grand Rapids Yamaha dealer (they still don't carry the 9000 or 9000pro they claim that the Technics high end stuff is sooooooo much better).

The PSR550 is a nice little board. Lots of bang for the buck. If I were prone to carry a backup board this one would be in the running.

I played the swing and BB styles on this board and they were very acceptable. The quality of these styles were much better than the converted 9000 styles that I received for my X1.

I can only conclude that the Yamaha 9000 internal styles don't convert very well. The 9000 styles must be much better than I heard coming out of my X1 because even the 550 styles were better than the converted 9000 styles that I received.

Fran you are the style conversion expert, what gives. George and DanO you have both products, have you tried converted 9000 styles in a X1? Is it because they use XG voices or what?
