There have been a few updates over the last weeks at Tyrosworld for those of you who do not follow the postings. Intitial shipments of the Tyros have already started here in the UK to dealers, though limited numbers at this stage. Delivery expectations for a few lucky customers are early next week. There have been many recent mp3 uploads including demos and songs played on tyros, most of these have now been archived at www.psrworld.com/tyrosdemos.htm. I have recently been trying out the software cd that is supplied with the tyros keyboard, amongst its contents are a voice editor, midi file format convertor, file convertor and manager. Of interest is the voice editor as it is apparent that the tyros voices now feature 8 elements per voice, i.e. there is the possibility of layering up to 8 different AWM waveforms. Of course using the full 8 elements would severly limit polyphony, but this should open up possibilities of creating some very fat sounds! The editor itself can either work stand alone or as a plug in with the latest midi sequencers supporting OPT. As well as controlling filters, envelopes and LFO's, you can even change the DSPs and edit drum kits! The USB interface provides fast data syncing to the tyros, plus the ability to run 32 midi channels without the need of a midi interface on the pc!
The midifile convertor is worthy of a mention, this converts format 0 to 1 and also allows you to retrieve the song name from the midifile and use it as a filename.
Other goodies include colourful "wallpaper" for the tyros's display, screensavers and desktop background images for pc, a short animated movie with a nice tyros soundtrack (different to the german flash website) and USB midi driver.
It is also interesting to note that UK tyros's have a disk supplied with them to convert the cryptic song names in the music database to proper ones. Not sure though if they are exactly the same song setups, though I would guess so. Perhaps we will see if this is included in other countries or not, I assume it depends on copyright laws.

Incidentally if you are interested at all in tyros, please visit tyrosworld.com and join the discussion group, you can also find photos, mp3's, xls files of voices/styles and cakewalk definitions tucked away in the files area.

Regards
Simon

Simon,
Thanks for the update here. I joined the group over there but hate the way Yahoo works so much, it has been keeping me away. The ads in between the posts etc, drive me nuts. Low threshold for pain I guess.
Terry

Btw the link you provided doesn't seem to work, says page cannot be found on my browser.

Just listened to the MP3 demos of Tyros midi files. Not a patch on SD1 or Genesys sounds, they sound very weak. You can't beat Gem for their own midi files, the ones that come with the Genesys are spot on. Personally I don't use any midi file, I prefer to use Cubase and Pro Tools and make my own backing tracks.

Hi Simon! How are you doing?

Simon, thanks for sharing the news with us and I will be sure to check the news soon. But I have a question for you Simon.

A while ago I joined up to the SVPWorld Yahoo! discussion group. Before joining the group, you had specifically asked to hear some audio demos of mine. Well, I joined the group a while ago and when I posted out my introduction post I never got a response from you, even though you had been busy responding to everyone else at the same time. Plus, I had e-mailed you about my website and you never responded. I am just curious, have you gotten the chance to listen to my music or did you just ignore my messages? I was really looking forward to talking out on SVPWorld and I thought that it would be a good group, but I felt ignored when I joined - therefoe, I never posted out there again.

By the way, I am still a member of the SVPWorld Yahoo! group, but I have not posted another post since I never received a welcome in response to my introduction.

Dear Ryan,

Please accept my sincerest apologies for not getting back to you. I guess that I should have done so immediately, as I often accumulate "to do" items in my inbox with the 100's of messages coming in each day. I had wanted to respond to you personally of course, hence why I put your messages aside "to do". Unfortunately a short while afterwards I lost my outlook personal folder files, and as a result of course lost track of much correspondence! I am somewhat embrassed therefore to have neglected your messages, I hope you will accept my sincerest apologies and please let me catch up on those events now. I still am interested to hear your audio demos if it is not to late, and this time please make sure I respond to you! As you can appreciate, running the website, forums and a full time "day" job is sometimes a little too much for me and things can go astray, albeit with embarassing consequences! If you can email me personally on simon@svpworld.com, perhaps we can catch up with where I seemingly left off.

Kind regards
Simon

eyerec,
is your only mission in this forum to waste your guts on your opinion of the Tyros?
Personally I'm getting tired of your repetetive criticism. I think most of us at this forum know what you think. Bring something positive about your Genesys (Geniousys) instead.
Enjoy your keyboards.

Hi Simon!

Thank you for the sincere apology, that was so kind of you to come out here and reply to my "complaint". Now, since I have gained perspective of your responsibilities, I completely understand why you could not reply to me in time. Simon, I will be sure to "rejoin" your Yahoo! Group as soon as possible and I am looking forward to posting out there once again!

And, if you would please do so, please check out my web site which features my music and my twin brother's music as well. Please tell me what you think, Simon - I am really looking forward to hearing your comments!

You can reach my web site at: http://www.webquad.com/ph

When you are there at the web site, simply click on the "Music" button to see a listing of our audio demos!

By the way, if you need any help at your website (SVPWorld.com) or on your Yahoo! Group, just let me know! My twin brother and I are very experienced with web sites and, since you are so busy, we can help you out with your web site.

Thanks Simon and I am looking forward to hearing what you think about our music!
Ryan

By the way, I wanted to mention that we will be creating a brand new Performance Hall website that will be dedicated to entertainment and music!

Currently, Performance Hall is only about my music and my twin brother's music, but the new Performance Hall, which will be launched soon, will include movie music reviews, film and motion picture reviews, a members-only area, and more! Plus, you will be able to sign up to the Performance Hall Club and, through your membership, you will be able to have your website and your music featured on the Performance Hall website.

I will be sure to let you know when the new Performance Hall is up and running...

See you around and don't forget to check out our music!
Ryan
