Last night I played a gig with another arranger player with 2 guitarist 3 vocailist and a sax player.

Well I noticed that the Tyros had the better of the solo type instrument especially the concert guitartist sound., and brass trumpet .

But overall the SD1 had more of a deeper sounding drum kit and bass guitar sound, and not just an eq but more of a fuller rounder sound, also the styles were of a better mix concering internal.

So to make a long story short, I'm selling the Tyros 2 for a SD5 ur SD1 plus

Hi Fran,
were you actually an sd owner??
I have to agree, the drums on the SD1+ are brilliant. Luv the fact that you can incorporate a drum audio loop into a style via drum 2.

best wishes
Rikki

Come on guys, we all know we think the grass is greener till we get to the other side...

Don't get me wrong, the T2 does have some amazing sounds that I don't think will ever come out of a Ketron, but you can have all the best and perfect ingrediants, but how prepared meal tastes is what counts.

Plus midi file playback, the nice thick sounding strings,

although the higher fidelty of the Tyros will be missed, the thin sound won't be.

so do I wait for the SD5 or go SD1. Or wait for the big replacement due out at the next artic age?

Fran, I forgot, what are you playing?

SD1?

Have you compared them also, I just want to make sure I wasn't making a wrong move,

what do you think?

Rikki I had an SD1 for a short period of time..

Frankie, I still play a G1000.

Yes I compared them but not side by side..
I always felt the same as your opinion..

The Tyros does not match up in the sound dept..

Sure the Tyros does have exceptional sounds, but only a few in my mind..

I would rather have a Ketron over a Yamaha in the sound area..

Hi Frank

Don't you have the Midjay anymore? That is supposed to sound even a little better than the SD1 as I had seen it discussed, or at least the same. Why not use the best of both worlds?

Hi Frank,
sorry, I wasn't knocking the T2. I actually haven't heard one. I've only got the PSR1500 not T2. (But I do luv the sd1+ drums.)

Maybe if you download the manual on the sd5 & sd1+ you could find out the differences, just in case the sd5 doesn't have some functions that the sd1 + does have that you may require ( or vice versa).
More importantly that the Ketron's do all the stuff that you may have gotten used to (in the T2.)

I read the midjay & sd1+ manuals before I eventually decided on the sd1 +. Glad I did,as the Midjay lacked some functions that I personally would have missed.

best wishes
Rikki

rikkisbears, I didn't think you where knocking it at all,

Yes Scott I do still have the Midjay, and that's also one of the reasons I notice such a difference in the 2 machines, I could play a midi file on the miDJay and it sounds great, sure the guitars are a tad bit dated sounding, but overall a great full sound, then I'll play the same midi file on the T2( revoiced using some great software that was I got from this forum ) and it sounds thin and very empty.

Not saying the T2 is bad, some of the styles and mixes are incrdible, the acoustic guitars are amazing, not so good in a style strumming but as a solo instrument beautiful.

Playing with just the T2 I'm very happy, but when I got spanked at the last gig from that Ketron I thought it was time to go where my heart ( and nationality ) are.
