Those who have the psr3000 could tell me if Tyros styles can sound just as good after being loaded into smart media card on the psr3000?

What happens to the OTS when a Tyros style is transferred to the 3000?

How about Tyros Registration Memory, User Voices or Custom Voices?

I am considering adding a PSR3000 as an extra for my Tyros.

I have a lot of saved styles with my OTS settings and special tweaking. I am hoping I can just progam one or the other and easily download what I have on one or the other.

I'm not sure about the registrations, but everything else is compatible.

Hi Gary

So, then the only real difference is that one would get the same OTS minus the 3rd voice, or does it play even though there is no button for it.

I know on the Tyros in using a style from something that has just the two layered voices that the Tyros picks the Grand Piano as a default. The button isn't activated but it's there ready to use.

Well, Gary, if that's so, and the volumes and everything don't need changing, maybe outside of the EQ, then this is starting to appeal to me.

My other thought is to get another PSR2000 which I have all my files for Music Finder, Reg Mem, User Voices, and User Styles.

Hmmmmmmm. Both ideas sound good to me. haha

Scott,

Obviously, the third voice will not be available because the 3000 is limited to 2 voices for the right hand. As for getting another 2000, the 3000 offers so many advantages when it comes to storage, it would be difficult for me to play a 2000 after using the 3000 for just a few months. So many wonderful things that can be done on the fly using the USB and Smart Media Card in conjunction with laptop. For anyone set up in this manner it provides the ability to perform seamlessly with zero dead time between songs. And, while some folks will argue that the difference in sample size between the Tyros and 3000 can be heard, your audiences will never know, or for that matter, hear the difference. Even after all these years, I have a great deal of difficulty hearing a distinct difference, especially in the voices that are freqently used such as grand piano, guitars, sax, trumpet, etc. And, in your case, where the Tyros is your primary machine, the 3000 would be an excellent back-up should the Tyros unexpectedly drop dead.

Good luck,

Gary

The biggest difference in sound to my ears is in the Grand Piano. Tyros has the best I've heard, when played through good-quality stereo system.

Gary, Laptop and keyboard question. Have you found a way for the laptop to send a message to the keyboard for the setup of the song selected? Or the keyboard to the Laptop selecting a song.

Just a thought, thanks, John C.

John, unfortunately, the way things are set up with the 3000s USB, this is still not an option. I mainly use the laptop for midi files, lyrics and MP3s. The laptop audio out is then fired through the 3000s auxilary input. The midi files, which are played through Van Basco's Midi Karaoke Player Van Basco are fired from the laptop's USB to the keyboard's USB-2.0-A connection. Using this technique, I can have an MP3 and Midi file ready to go on the laptop, while at the same time be performing a song from either the MFD or a registration. As soon as one song ends, the next is beginning with a single click of the mouse or pressing laptop's enter key. Sure makes life a lot more fun.
