One of the greats has left us. Jimmy Smith has passed away at the age of 79.

I think he was one of the great B3 pioneers, and maybe the most prolific jazz organist of his time. Man what he could do with that B3.... so powerful and yet so sweet.

I wonder if any of you Philly guys ever got a chance to meet up with him ....

I was just on the Joey Defrancesco site and and saw this and was surprised that it hadn't been mentioned here...
