I admit that I am anything but a seasoned player, but I have a lot of fun playing the PSR2000 at home.

While I have a fair amount of sheetmusic books, I have now bought a book called "Ballroom Favourites" by International Music Publications and which contains excellent Quickstep, Fox and Waltz medleys. One problem though: Some of the indicated chords have a plus sign, others a degree sign added behind, and this is something I have not run into so far. How would these translate to the chords available on the PSR2000? Is F+ the same as Faug? C° possibly Ccancel? Thanks for any help you can give!

augmented and diminished. simplest way to remember is

augmented is the root + major 3rd + (5th+semitone) so would be C E G# for example

diminished is the same only root + minor 3rd + (5th-semitone) so would be C Eb Gb although some would argue you need the A too.

Yes. It's the short notation fo F+5. It means an augmented fifth (F,A,C#).

Gee, I've never heard about a "Ccancel" chord! C° is a diminished chord (diminished third and diminished fifth). The result is (C,Eb,Gb). Another possible notation for C° is Cdim.

If you add the A note you will get a diminished seventh chord (third-semitone, fifth-semitone, seventh-semitone)

yes, some say dim = dim 5th, some say dim = dim 7th, some say half diminished with Bb, some say the A is really Bbb, some say seventh diminished 5th, some say... I can't hear the difference (at least when playing auto chord)

Forgive a Senior's crazy thoughts, but I was thinking how it reminds me of my former days when my ardour was often augmented (+)but sadly now is diminished (o).

cheers
