I just picked up my student's s900 they ordered from the music store. The student asked what they should get and I pointed them in that direction. They said when it comes in to take it home about a week and we'll hook up later and I'll teach her how to use it, so...

It came in last night and the S900 is sitting in my office right now as I speak.....

Let you know how it goes later.... Just hate turning it over to the owner...

Jeff,

Yes, let us know what you think....especially vs the 3K or Tyros for that matter.

I have never played a T2 or 3000 so I can't compare those, but it is set up and has almost all the identical features of an upper 300 series Clavinova. It has really good sound, the styles are nice. It has several new styles that the 300-series doesn't have, including one in particular is a "6-8 worship" style which is something that is missing in a lot of boards. I really like some of the solo instruments like the trumpet shakes, sax where it glisses off a note with velocity switching and those kind of things. I'm going to hate giving it up on Saturday but I have to give it to its rightful owner.

Maybe I should have told my student it is wise to buy two of the same instrument for back up purposes and they should be kept in separate locations, and I happen to have some space in my home studio to store it if she'd like...

p.s. - the thing I don't like about it is the lack of a floppy drive. I realize that everyhting is going the way of other media storage devices, but all my MIDI files are on floppies and now I can't give my student some of the files she wanted. Oh, well, guess it's time to keep moving with technology.

Time to transfer those floppies into a computer pronto...

Floppies don't last forever...

Jeff, If that thing has a USB port that supports external drives, get an external floppy drive. I got one for 29.95 thats powered by the port and works flawlessly. Got it at one of those Office Max, Office Depot, Staples kind of stores (don't remember which one). Works better than the internal floppy on one of my older computers (seems faster).

I'd just use the pc to transfer data to whatever usb storage device your student will be using.
That way you save the $29.95 Chaz is talking about and then you only need $1570.04 more for your own PSR S900

Jim, of course you're right. I just had a mental blackout. I only bought mine because my studio computer doesn't have one and my PA1x Pro just loves floppies .
