The Sd 1 navigation ( how you select sounds, styles) is completely different than the X4 .
The X4 is really a great module. I really can not think of any other module that has great sounds and styles. Also ability to create patterns and have a dedicated sequencer .
The Ketron products play midi sequences better than any product on the market ( my opinion) . However the drums on the SD1 are truely remarkable .
The SD1 and X4 are difficult to compare since they are designed for different purpose .
In regards to your question about acid loops.
Many people compare the ketron's ability to interchange the parts of a pattern to be like acid loops. The parts syncipate to the timing of the other pattern ( as long as time signatures are equal). An example of this is to use a bass line from a mambo style and use it with an 8beat style ( pattern ) .
I did not get a chance to work with this feature with the SD1 . The SD1 goes a little further with this . The SD1 will syncipate samples with a pattern or midi sequence .
The Sd1 will be available soon in USA. End of March or early April . So, wait and see and compare both . Dan O oneils4@home.com or guitarcenterdan@hotmail.com
