Tim,
A classic example of the keyboard's inner workings was recently posted on the PSR Tutorial by Mike. His post was in response to the Synch Stop button and what can be accomplished by merely going into the keyboard and changing the settings, something that few if any individuals knew existed. Here's his post:
"You can also set the stop window so that the style stops only when you play a short stab to the chord and not stop in normal playing. This is a very useful feature to insert a break. Hit the function key then select 'style setting/split point'. Tab to Style Setting/split point. You will see a menu along the bottom which says Synchro stop window. You can select the legth of note that you want to represent the window. The stop only activates if the chord played is less than this not length. This way you can have the synch stop on well before you need it, or even for the whole song but control when it activates by how you play the chord."I never knew this function could be changed, and what those changes could do. Neat stuff!
Working with and exploring the possibilities of the keyboard's onboard Sound Creator program is a real challenge, one that given time a person can come up with dramatic voices, many of which will really blow the standard onboard sounds away. These custom voices can also be saved as registrations, or stored as OTS settings in style files as well. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination and creativity.
Cheers,
Gary
