Im about to purchase a Tyros 2 in a few weeks in Sydney. I want to know where i can get the best price for one. there is a place in chatswood who have offered it for $4700.00 inc. tax with the speakers and sub all brand new...

I'm not in Australia, and nor did I buy my T2 there, but I remember that Alan's Music in the Sydney CBD were pretty good at beating prices. Call them, give them your quote, and they might beat it!

Nick I live in Hobart and the price being asked is over $6000.
Don't think you will do any better than the price quoted.

Bought Tyros 2 in Melbourne for $4,700, included hard drive (Jan 06). I believe (and hope) it was a special price as I had bought three previous keyboards and a speaker system from the dealer who has always given me a good trade in on changeover as well - but Tyros 2 was bought without trade-in.
Sounds like your offer is reasonable.

whats the going rate on a second hand 10 month old PSR 3000 here? i was hopoing for around $1800 to 2 grand?

you should be able to get one for around $1500
