Hi everybody,

I played the Tyros today by Oostendorp in Wezep(Netherlands)

They were for me exiting hours!!
I never played an instrument like the Tyros.
Well done Yamaha!!

In real the instrument looks very sleek, in a nice silver color and a very good layout.

The added speaker set looks very good and sounded extremely well.
No distortions and you can play it very loud on a HI-FI level.
But you have to balance the volume on the sub-bass with the speakers on the Tyros to get a good sound and not a *boom, boom* sound!!

The screen is very beautiful , clear and well designed and will guide you to everything you want the Tyros to do.
Make sure there are no lights shining directly on the display.

I liked the touche although you have to get used to the intial touch and the aftertouch because it's different then the KN6000 but that is a matter of hours to get that under control.

The first thing I did was playing a lot of rhythm styles with OTS, so you will get a very good idee what this instrument can do.

I have to say it was amazing how it sounded!!
The intro's,mains, and endings and break where in one word ''GREAT'' and in combination with OTS you have 4 perfect registrations.
Especially the pro-styles are very real and are programmed with the MEGA-voices

Although I played Technics keyboards for over 10 years(2000-6000 series), comparing it with the new KN7000, I think the Tyros is much better in sounding, styles, layout, screen and chord recognizing, so I bought one!!!!
In about a few weeks I got my own Tyros an then the fun can begin.

But I can imaging that there are other keyboard players who don't like the Tyros very well comparing it with there own instrument at this time.
For me the Tyros is number ONE comparing it with the KN 6000/7000 from Technics.

Gerrit.

Rowboat Terry ??
They didn't tell you ??
Oh !! (?). To get around the dock strike, Yamaha is now shipping each component in by carier pigeon - via Afghanistan - and the French Riviera (the pigeons need to rest up after THAT trip). Due the extended trip the components - should they ALL get here in one piece (so to speak ) they could be together sometime in March '03. LOL !!!

Hope it get here quicker than that. Besides, you got that stick !!

Hallo Gerrit,

Congrats !
You know my opinion (using a SD1 as 'reference') but I agree with you : The Tyros sounds much better than the KNseries by Technics.

Let's wait to see if Yamaha is able to ship them within a few weeks. I had to wait about 5 months on my SD1 while the Benelux distibutor kept saying : "We expect them next week " (From februari till juli 2001 )

I heard that Yamaha was going to have the end user install the black keys .

They were thinking about the white keys , but fiquired that it would be more of a problem for a home user .
