My bag has two small tears on the bottom. Korg i30, approximately 43 inches long. This is an inexpensive bag I have but it's held together for over 5 years. So, I don't want an expensive bag. Maybe under $50.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Boo,

While the Gator cases are well constructed, they're heavy as hell. The 61 key case that has moderate reinforcement tips the scales at nearly 22 pounds. My suggestion would be to purchase a high-quality, slightly oversided, soft case, line it with Ethefoam, then pad the top with 1-inch of soft foam. The Ethefoam liner will only about a pound or two to the weight, it's very strong, the keyboard will be well protected and you will not get a hernia picking up the rig.

Good Luck,

Gary

Boo/Gary: I have been rethinking some of my setup to increase portability and decrease setup time. In consideration is my bags/cases, stands (mic, keyboard, speaker), and microphone (considering headset vs handheld with boom). Recent issue of keyboard magazine brought up the rock-and-roll cart which has been discussed on synthzone. The idea is to get a light-as-possible hardshell case so it can sit as the foundation on the cart with the rest of your stuff stacked on it. With my T2, my z5500 amp, and my bag-o-stuff (z5500 speakers, cables,...) I could move it all in one trip from the car.

Donny: Great post! I always wondered what the Compression Deflection and Tensile Elongation was for Ethefoam.

When I'm using the Z-5500 system, the sub sits in the middle of my Rock "N" Roller cart, my accessories bag and laptop computer are situated to the right of the sub, and my console rig is on the left of the sub. The keyboard sits atop the sub, the X-stand is on top of the keyboard case, speaker stands are placed within the X-stand legs, the fan goes on top of the X-stand, and everything makes it to the venue on a single trip. Nothing to it.

Cheers,

Gary

Donny/Gary: What do you think of the R&R R8. Site says same as R10 with slightly smaller wheels, resulting in smaller storage footprint.

The frame size seems about the same, but when transporting equipment you should always go with the largest wheels available. This provides a smoother ride over such things as ornamental brickwork used for paving sidewalks, carpet edging strips, etc.

Cheers,

Gary
