I just bought a 9000 Pro and have the midi A out connected to a Unitor 8 which has lights that show activity. The light on the line from the 9000 blinks continually whenever the 9000 is turned on. When I connect my old Akai MX73 keyboard to the same line, it does not blink. I can't find anything in the midi settings on the 9000 to indicate what it might be sending, or how to turn it off, and the midi output is working fine. Could anyone tell what the 9000 is sending when it is just sitting here and if there is any way to turn that data off?

Thanks for your time.

Lee,

I do not own a Yammie, but think the 'activity' you see is caused by the 'RUNNING STATUS' communication.
Many midi-equipment is able to use only data-bytes as long as the status-bytes do not change.
Looooong time ago I owned a Korg M1 and 01W/FD and they also did a continuous transmission...... it think.
If you want to stop the activity-leds you have two options :

TX : set running-status to OFF (is possible)
or put a 'running-status filtering' in the 'receiving' machine.(if possible)

Thanks, Roel. After reading your suggestion I dug out the Unitor book and found that it can filter "Active Sensing" which is the Yamaha name for this function. I'd spent some time trying to turn it off on the 9000, but hadn't thought of filtering it at the Unitor.
