Hi, for those of you who don't know, my name is Jack Mitchell and I'm from Mitchell SD. I am the owner of a Yamaha PSR 340. I know, it's an oldie. But the person who sold it to me in March said it was the newest of the PSR's. Anyways, I always enjoy recording songs on my keyboard and posting them to PSR-songs. So I would like to hear opinions on how people go about recording on their keyboards. To start off, I record usually 3 separate tracks with the harmony turned on. This gives me 6 different melodies. Then I use XgWorks to add what I consider an appropriate accompaniament track. I have a MIDI adaptor coming soon so then I can use the styles on my keyboard for recording. Well, let me know your people's take on recording and if you have and comments or critiques, throw them at me

Hi Jack

I think you should look into the Yamaha-PSR-Songs egroup. You friend was correct, the PSR-340 was pretty new in March.

Hi Cliff. Yeah, I'm a member of the PSR group. But people have talked so much about the 740, 8000, and 9000. These all came out since March?

Jack,
The 340, 540, 640, 740 and 9000 are all the current models. The previous generation was *30's, and *20's before that. The higher the first number, the more capabilities the keyboard has, and the more it costs.
You can go to Yamaha's web age and compare features. As we discussed on the PSR chat last week, the 740 would be excellent for your purposes. The 640 would be almost as good. It lacks vocal processing, but it isn't the greatest in the world on the 740 anyway.
