Am I correct in believing there are TWO versions of the Solton SD1 sold: one for the European market and one for the USA market?

I heard that not only is the voltage support (220 Europe vs 110 US) different, but that there are included styles which are different as well. Can someone here confirm/deny this? If true, exactly WHICH styles are different? Thanks. - Scott

Hi Scott,

It is indeed true! Ours says Tom-ar-to and your version says Tom-hay-to

Actually I have no idea (what's new!)....but it is quite possible as when I had the EM2000 I know that over here it came with 400+ midi files on zip and over there you just got the extra styles. Made me wonder at the time what other differences there may be with other brands!

Scott,

I believe the styles & the sounds are the SAME for all the different markets. Ketron ships the same manual (in 6 languages) with the same list of styles & sounds in the back of the manul. If the styles were different, then they would have had different manuals for the different markets.

Well, well, this is something I will have to dive into more so as to get a concrete answer. I believe the hardware would probably be the same - any variations would be in software, particularly in the SOUNDS department since there are different 'tastes' for both the European and American markets. Just the 'Piano' alone calls for a difference as it is obvious that the markets are not the same ... even car companies adjust their product to suit demands in the various areas!

As of now, I do NOT know for sure if there is a difference but will surely get some response by the end of the week. I believe a comparison b/w one bought from a dealer here in the US versus one imported from synthplanet should do.
More on this soon.

Scott,
you're going to fancy the styles/patterns
This is no doubt about, Ketron know how to
get the keyboard to really SWING!
But you have to find a way to try it by yourself,
to see/hear it.
GJ

BTW, did you notice that I don't use the word
Solton anymore?
Now it's only Ketron SD1 written on the keyboard.

GJ,

Scott was one of the first in this forum to try out a Ketron SD1, back in January!!! He knows how good the styles & sounds are.
