Hello,

I have some unsolved issues related to MSP saving on HD (see my recent posts) and it looks like I will need a technical expertise.
Is there any official technical support in North America for Ketron/Solton products?
Any phone number?

I know about AJ and DanO but it looks they cannot help me on this.

Thanks
007

Why can't AJ or DanO help you? Did you actualy contact either of them? I am positive they could help even if only to pass on Lou's phone number..

Yes,

I have contacted both of them and they responded but the suggestion that AJ gave me didn't work. After that I haven't heard from him again.

It is kind of hard to reach AJ or DanO because they are quite busy and they don't respond on every message.
I do understand them, they have other things to do then to reply on every Ketron problem.

That's why I have asked for maybe more dedicated technical support where I wouldn't have to wait few weeks before I get any response.
More like regular Yamaha or Korg tech support.

Dennis ,

yes ....I have been a little busy . I do care about your question and I understand that your looking for answer's .

Can you successfully copy the MSP's to a floppy disk ? I
Anything that can be saved on a floppy disk can be saved on the hard drives dedicated folder . It is important to COPY ....NOT SAVE ......to the hard drive . Just making sure .......

It is possible that the X1 may not do what your asking . There are always issue's that customers bring to the attention of a company. Rootless chording was one .

You also installed oriental kit ? That kind of screwed up the button assignment ...right ?

ALSO ..........AJ has been very good at responding and we just had a HOLIDAY .

I care and AJ cares ..........dano ......

Dennis,

Everybody knows that you can't have two files with the same name in the same directory.
Therefore, you have to rename your wav-files.

After renaming the wav-files, the msp-program cannot acces the wav-files any more since the name of those wav-files are changed.
Therefore, you have to remake the msp-programs.

A lot of work, but it is the only way if you want to keep al your wav- and msp-files in the same directory !!!!

Belgium regards,
Carlo.

Denis007,

You cannot place two files with the same name within the same folder of the HD of the X1.
* You might have to create an entirely new folder (eg #08).
* Copy all the files you want associated with the MSP to this new folder (eg Piano1.wav, piano2.wav, piano3.wav).
* Now all these files must be within the same folder with DIFFERENT names (hence the numbering).
* Create a BLOCK file that will link all these MSPs to gether (called piano.blk). Edit it to include all the msp files listed above. Also save this within this newley created folder. If you did not create these MSPs yourself, you might have to rename them to avoid having 2 or more files within the same folder; (it would be great doing all this on FD, and transfering the final product to HD).
* So in this folder, you now have 4 files (3 MSPs and 1 blk file).
* When you want to associate any loading of this new sound of yours, all you have to do is load the BLOCK file - others will be loaded automatically (i.e the MSPs that together make up the entire sound of this new voice).

I am the official Ketron Technical Specialist here in the US. (Ketron_Tech@yahoo.com)

Thanks ... and hope this helps.

AJ

DanO,

Yes, I can copy to hard drive but issue is different in this case. I can copy files around but if I rename them in order to prevent them from overwriting .MSP file does not recognize them any more.

I have removed the Oriental OS and now I have the regular one.

Please don't be offended by my comments. You can see that I have mentioned that I do understand you and AJ because you guys are very busy. I think both of you are doing a great job knowing how many Ketron users are around and you guys are alone.
Also,I have never questioned if you and AJ care.
Of course you care. Without you guys we, normal users would probably be "lost"

I just think that it would be nice if Ketron has a tech center which could be contacted by phone or e-mail at least 5 days a week.
In that case any problem could be directly discussed with a representative and get response very quickly. This principle was accepted a long time ago by other music companies like YAM, KORG, Roland...
We are lucky that we have this forum but I think Ketron should do more.
I think there are enough Ketron users in North America to justify this idea.

AJ

I am little bit confused with the BLOCK file. Is this described in the manual?
I will check it tonight, but the question would be how could I create this file?
Should I do that in any editor on my PC and then copy it to X1?
I am afraid that format has to match.
Let me try these and I’ll get back to you.

Thanks a lot

Denis007,
Creation of the BLOCK files should be in the manual. Please create this on the X1/X4 unit to avoid compatibility issues. These files are basically a group of associated sound files that always work 'together'.
Thanks,
AJ
