Hello,

Very nice played. I enjoyed the classical guitar sound and good arrangement but I have 2 remarks:
- I hear some distortion on the guitar, maybe its level is too high (maybe it is my speakers too)
- Your chord progression is not exact as the original. There are 9th chords in this song. Is it intentional to don't play them? If it is the case, don't worry about this remark.

Hi. This version does sound smoother and nicer than the old version. Now, I'm probably one of the most picky persons here, so keep that in mind while I comment.
The intro is cool. I like the way you did it the first time far better than how you did it in the middle. I'd try to do it the same way each time, at least as far as timing goes. Your timing was a little peculiar the second time around.

Also, I do like the softer guitar. I don't know if it is just that you need to get more familiar with how the SA voices work, or if Yamaha just programmed them kind of poorly, but all that string scraping in the background was about to drive me nuts, literally. There is no way under the sun that guitarists would be making that much string fret noise. Yours is not the first demo that exhibited this sound either, but that scraping is hugely overdone.

Finally, I agree that the chords in the bridge are still off. Now I'm not saying you have to do it just as it was originally done, but I would say that learning the correct chords should come first, then altering the chords. In other words, know the song thoroughly before you change it personally.

So there you have it, for whatever it's worth.

Thanks for the replies.

can somone please give me a list of these chords I am missing or playing incorrectly?

I do agree that for some reason in this song, alot more fret slide sounds come out alot more than usual and spoils the effect.

cheers, Nick

Going from memory here.
F sharp major 7
B9 or B dominant 7
F Sharp minor7 or minor9
D9 or D7 for a substitution
G minor9
E flat 9 or 7

Each day when she walks to the see,
A min to D7 Flat 9
She looks straight ahead not at He
Gmin to C7 Flat9

I think that's right.

As one who has performed this song a lot over the years, I enjoyed Nick's rendition. As far as the chords he used, they sound 'just fine' to my ears. I enjoy the upbeat tempo, guitar + string riffs played in the intro and interlude section, giving this song a fresh lift.

For what it's worth: here are the chords I play (more or less) on this tune:

| FMaj7 | ./.| G7 | ./. |
| Gm7 | Gb7| FMaj7 | Gb7|
| FMaj7 | ./.| G7 | ./. |
| Gm7 | Gb7| FMaj7 | ./. |

| GbMaj7| ./. | B7 | ./.|
| F#m7 | ./. | D7 | ./.|
| Gm7 | ./. | Eb7| ./.|
| Am7 | D7b9| Gm7| C7b9|

| FMaj7 | ./.| G7 | ./. |
| Gm7 | Gb7| FMaj7 | ./. |

Nick: Keep up the good work.

Scott

Maybe my screenreader is wacky, but I don't like those chords in Fran's link at all. Do they suggest a C9 chord for instance on the word sadly? Yikes!
