I've got a Xp on order , and it should arrive in a few days .
I've been reading the operator manual which I downloaded from the Gem site .

It is my understanding that to rename a file/style etc that you have to attach to the rear of the module a computer sp2 keyboard is this correct .

I thought you would be able to do this function by using a Alpha /numeric rotary switch on the fascia ??????

Please would some one reply with the answer .

I am sorry that I haven't answered you question yet. Since I don't have a Genesys XP in my office yet, I can't answer this question at the moment. However I have asked someone else who will know and I am waiting on a response from him. As soon as I hear back I will let you know.

Hello Giovanni,

If you zoom in on this picture of the Genesys XP you will see that you have access to the entire alphabet and numbers via the Preset/Memories buttons. No external keyboard is needed to name files.

What about if you had a midi keyboard connected to the xp via midi, could you name files by using the midi keyboard's keys?

Yes you can. File naming can be accomplished directly on the front panel or by a connected MIDI keybaord or PC keyboard.
