flowerssupply,
See response below:
1 Do you use Single Registrations
>>>AJ: Yes, along with GLOBAL REGISTRATIONS ... it depends on what you really want to do.
2 Do you experience delay in changing Regs (single)
>>>AJ: Yes (Single). Remember that Single registrations are stored and read in from FD/HD. This means there has to be some 'access' time for the machine to access the correct address locations in the HD/FD (It's like opening a word doc from FD ver HD with the former being a little slower!). Whenever you use a mechanical device for storage of data, access time is usually longer.
For this reason (unless you access more than 198 Registers per gig/at a time), it would be smart to use the GLOBAL registers. These are the same as SINGLE registers BUT they are located & accessed directly from MEMORY on the X1/SD1. The contents of the REGISTRATION are called up instantaneously! You can save a BLOCK of GLOBAL Registers on HD and load this BLOCK (of 198 registers) at the begining of the show, during your break etc) and access them during the show, one after another. With the arranger on, you can even smoothly change styles/sounds/settings etc by changing the GLOBAL registration. There will hardly be a glitch (unless the tempo values stored in either registration are greatly different. The only thing you'll loose when using BLOCK Registrations is the ability to load any associated TEXT files since these registrations DO NOT access the FD/HD when called.
We have taken note of this and with new technology, hope to increase access time in the feature, maybe via using different storage devices?
3 Does anyone Know if there is an improvement in this function in Sd1 as compared to X1
>>>AJ: See (2) above.
Thanks,
AJ
