Yesterday I received the new Peavey Messenger PA.
Here's what's really great!
First, the entire system packed up is only 24"long x 13"tall x 5"deep.
Next, it ways 19 lbs. This system is small enough to fit in the overhead storage compartment of an airplane but is powerful enough to be used as a pro sound system for small venues.
It looks like a briefcase. The speakers are attached to each side of the mixer/amp and the center cover opens up and can either be lifted off or it adjusts to function as a lectern.
The mixer has two fifty watt amps and the mixer has five channels and one of them is capable of playing back CD's and tapes's designed for minus one or Karaoke where you can raise or lower the volume of just the music or just the vocal (two volume controls are provided marked vocal and music for this purpose). Two XLR mic channels (also with 1/4" jacks), 1 channel for HiZ mic or line input, stereo RCA channel, stereo rca outs, mono line out, heaphone jack.
It also has a auto feedback locating system as many of the pro Peavey PA's have.
A pro mic, mic cable and two speaker cables are provided with a convenient zip up pouch permanantely attached right next to the mixer and inside the cover.
The speakers each has dual 4" woofers and a 2" tweeter and I have to tell you, they sound really good and clean, even at high volume levels. I plugged several keybaords into this little marvel and they all sounded very good.
There is no Reverb built into the board
The Retail Price for this Peavey Messenger is $499.00 and if you need something really portable but very nice quality, I highly recommend this new product.

Thank you Donny for posting the picture of the Peavey Messenger. This is really a very good small compact sound system at a reasonable price.

Thanks George, I like the portability!

Do you have a view on how they sound compared to the Logitech 2300s or the Tyros TRSMS01 setup?

Graham,
There is no sub woofer with the Peavey Messenger so there won't be as much bass, but the bass sounds tight and solid for the size speakers being used. I can't comment on the Logitech speakers because I've never heard them and compared to the Tyros setup, the Peavey has a warmer and louder output.

The messenger is smaller, lighter, has more EQ,the volume is about the same and I think the speakers sound a bit better in the Peavey then the small fender pasport. I've never been a fan of the fender system because I don't like the sound of their speakers. I would have liked it if the Peavey had Reverb, which it doesn't, but the sound of the Reverb in the Pasport is not very good. In fact, it's awful!
