I have a psr225gm and it has capacity to record only 3 songs. I need increase the capacity to record and playback songs from other sources. I heard about mdf3 midi data filer, but I don't know if its works fine used with any psr model.
If anyone has information, please let me know. I have to be sure that this unit works good, before buy one.

The computer that you're typing on right now can serve as a storage device; or do you need a portable solution? If so, then the data filer will work nicely.

Yes, I need a portable device, because my computer is a big one. And I can't carry out.

The MDF3 will work fine; you may be able to pick up a used model on ebay or sweetwater.com - but just to whet your appetite, check these out:
http://www.bck.co.uk/htm/okyweb.htm http://www.bck.co.uk/htm/m88.htm

The OKYWEB uses SmartMedia cards and the M88 uses 3.5" floppys.

I haven't seen or heard one, but a discussion thread a month ago turned these up. Very interesting alternatives.

i used a cheap laptop (100.00} i think it was a ibm thinkpad (486) i bought on ebay
for 59.00 and a midi interface with a cakewalk program (less than 100.00. for me
this setup was about the same price and i
got more flexability out of it. loading
time was just as quick as my 233mhz thinkpad.
less than 2 seconds. i had a playlist i could
call on. i could load one while another
was playing. however the midifiler will
do a good job.

Thanks guys, cass,wrinkles303,donM and uncle dave for your information. I'm using my pc to store my songs, probably is better for me, use a data filer when i'm playing my music in other places, because the only things that i need in that case is the data filer and all floppies recorded.

Thanks again, friends...

DonM, are you referring to the Alesis Data Disk unit? I used to have one and it really worked great...It's definitely one of those pieces that I wish I still had!

By the way, Casio makes a unit called the FD-1 that sells for around 150.00. I uncovered info on it this last year when searching for alternatives to the Yamaha unit.

Hope this helps!

Michael

Casio FD-1 Floppy Disk Player

Connect the FD-1 to any General MIDI compatible keyboard and you can use it to play back Standard MIDI format files. The Easy Mode and normal Mode can be used during MIDI file playback, which means you have access to a virtually unlimited collection of music data for your practice sessions and lessons. Easy Mode means the
accompaniment playback waits for you to play the correct note on the keyboard before it advances. Use this mode to play along at your own pace. Normal Mode means the accompaniment plays along at normal speed regardless of the notes you play on the keyboard.
It also features a large LCD display screen which shows tempo, Keyboard keys being played, measure number, beat and other information appear on a large display during playback.

Right it's the Alesis Data Disk. Complete with update that allows it to store sequences.
