The psr S900 features lot of Tyros sounds as the PSR3000 did from Tyros. The voices of S-900 are great but we should all be aware of the fact that Yamaha has done something really stupid that they have included lot of SA voices in some sections-Guitars, saxophone and Trumpet, but they have not have given a single SA strings at all.

Strings voices are mostly used in eastern music especially Indian,Arabic music but strings section is ignored.Yamaha has made kind of a Tyros2 without strings - giving new meaning to the phrase "No strings attached"! It won't help us if we have lot of SA Guitars,or saxophone voices. They should really find a better balance between the selection of sounds.

Other than this,I think PSR-S900 is great - it's just bad that it has no SA strings at all.

the string selection on the S900 looks to be identical to the PSR 3K.

it also does NOT have any of the new accordion voices or Synth voices that are on the T2.

I was kind of disappointed that the only Megavoice for horns is on the tenor sax and trumpet. This is too bad, because megavoices are for styles, and tenor sax and trumpet are mostly accompanying instruments. These megavoices only appear on a few preset styles. It would have been better if there was a megavoice brass section or trombone. Oh well. It's still a pretty good keyboard.

Diki,

the PSR 3000 had the exact same Tyros 1 soundset bar alot of Synth and Pad Voices... there probably were maybe 5 or so other not really important voices left out...

The Tyros I had a lot more Megavoices than the PSR3000. Nevertheless, it is true that the PSR3000 was closer to the flagship than the PSR-S900 is.

Also, the PSR3000 had USB which was a step up from the Tyros.

For people who have been playing the PSR3000 for three years, I would gather that the PSR-S900 is a slightly disappointing small step forward, especially when you see all the leaps forward in other technologies, like cell phones, GPSs, mp3 players, satelite radios, etc.

Nevertheless, I think the PSR-S900 is the best keyboard you can get for $1600.

the PSR 3k and the tyros 1 had the exact same mega voices... check the specs

the new mega brass, strings, sax, trumpet, nylon and solid guitars were introduced in the T2
